Jason Garrett reportedly lobbying to keep his job with Cowboys

The Cowboys are still expected to part ways with Jason Garrett despite waiting to make a formal announcement, but the head coach is reportedly not going down without a fight. Part of the reason the Cowboys are dragging out the situation with Garrett is that the coach has been lobbying hard to keep his job, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reports. Glazer said there have been multiple instances over the past week when the Cowboys inform Garrett he is out and he says, “Hold on! Hold! Don’t do it yet. I still want to be considered for this.” Garrett and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones have a very close relationship, so that could help explain what is taking so long. Jones has a great deal of respect for Garrett, and he may want to give him a chance to state his case as much as he would like — even if Jones has already made up his mind.
